PSC Students Effect Change, Gain Skills
Last year, 5,231 student participants and 194 student leaders contributed 141,238 hours of service to 184 projects. For one program alone, the estimated value of services the students provided was more than $1.7 million. Program surveys show participants made gains in internalizing a positive perspective of their own agency, leadership and job skills, and understanding root causes of social issues. A survey of community partners showed strong satisfaction in how the partnerships supported the organizations’ progress towards achieving their goals.
As a result of participating in Alternative Breaks, 100% of Break Leaders agreed they have the ability to take intentional action to change an unjust situation.
