Summer 2025 Cal in Local Government Community Partner Application Cal in Local Government is a summer internship program that connects undergraduate students with local city government offices to gain a deeper understanding of local community issues. Students receive holistic support from the Public Service Center and will meet as a cohort to build their leadership skills and reflect on their experience over the summer. Deadline: October 31, 2024 Intern Interviews: February 2025 Host Organization Orientation: mid-May 2025 Number of Interns: The PSC team will do our best to honor the number of interns you request. Community Partner Expectations and Responsibilities Interview intern candidates in February 2025. More details will be shared. Attend host organization orientation in mid-May 2025. Expose interns to daily operations and systems in your organization that provide a valuable lens to direct service, organizing or policy work. Create a learning environment that focuses on the intern’s individual and professional growth and allows for the exploration of future career. Provide constructive and supportive supervision by an experienced staff member at your organization through regular 1:1 check-ins with your intern Ensure and maintain open lines of communication with the intern and PSC staff throughout the summer. Develop a job description for the intern that outlines duties to be fulfilled in support of your organization. Share final version with the PSC staff by April 2025. Additional instructions will be shared. Finalize a schedule (to be co-created with the intern) that outlines tasks/projects, hours, and days per week worked. Complete all Cal in Local Government program evaluation requests (e.g. Learning Agreement, Supervisor Commitment Form, Community Partner Reflection surveys). I.
